adams danceFive days of engaging discussions on writing and the writing life with Gail and the other writers. In our five morning workshops we'll focus on your own writing and on craft, but we'll also talk about the business end of writing, publishing and promoting your work. Each writer will be asked to submit a manuscript of 4,000 words before the retreat begins.

We run a paperless workshop, so please bring your laptop. A month before you arrive at the Sorrento Centre, we'll set you up on the retreat forum, where you'll post your submission and chat with Gail and the other writers. Are forums new to you? No problem. Using the forum is as easy as sending an email and we'll walk you through it.

During the retreat, writers will also enjoy a private one-on-one session with Gail immediately following their manuscript workshop. Use this session to brainstorm with Gail or ask those pressing questions in a private setting.

Restore your spirit with restful, quiet afternoons of writing in your room or in any locaton on the beautiful Sorrento Centre grounds. Wi-fi is available throughout the property.

Both your accomodation and the workshop room are in the Richardson building at the Sorrento Centre, a lovely lodge with a commons and shared kitchen area where you can visit with the other writers. We've worked with the Sorrento Centre to make booking that accomodation easy and affordable. Click on "where to stay" for more.

Take quiet walks through the lovely Sorrento Centre property and down to the beach. The centre is walking distance from the villiage of Sorrento which has grocery stores, a pharmacy, a bank, coffee shops and restaurants and other amenities.

After your retreat week is over, you’ll have continued access to the retreat forum, where you can meet on-line and discuss writing with your friends from the retreat, until the end of the year. You’ll also have ongoing access to the general salon area on Gail’s forum, where writers from across Canada, the US and around the world chat about craft, the writing life, publishing and promotion. Gail is on the forum most week days to offer advice and links.
