blursidewaysThis two-month online fiction intensive is ideal for teachers who want to work with Gail over the summer, but also great for other writers who want to work at a faster pace. Submission deadlines every two weeks keep you producing. Gail’s direction keeps you on track.

There are no assignments or writing prompts. Gail focuses solely on your project and your specific writing needs. Great for both emerging writers and pros with a new project on the go.

As a bonus, you’ll become a member of Gail’s on-line writing community with access to on-going discussions about craft, promotion and the writing marketplace.

You have the option of booking other intensive or mentorshiop sessions to complete your project.

For a taste of Gail's approach, please see this interview with Gail in The Puritan.

How it works: We'll set you up with your own private discussion board on Gail's teaching forum. All discussion takes place on this board and only you and Gail will see it. Every two weeks you'll post a portion of your fiction manuscript up to 4,000 words plus a one-page outline or synopsis, for a total of 16,000 words over the course of the two-month mentorship. In response, Gail posts her notes on each submission that include discussion on specific elements of craft. You can expect Gail’s notes on your submission in one week’s time. At the point Gail responds, you'll brainstorm with Gail on the private forum during your scheduled meet day. Discussion then closes as you prepare your next submission.

Cost of one two-month (four session) mentorship: $975 plus GST/HST (of your province).

Grants for writers can often be used for professional development, like this mentorship. Check out provincial and federal arts councils to see if this is a funding possibility for you.

Dates: summer intensives for teachers run July and August, but you can schedule your intensive at any time. Gail's schedule often fills months in advance, however, so register early to avoid disappointment.

Please note that once you've paid to reserve your spot, the fee will not be reimbursed in whole or in part, so please make sure you can commit to your chosen dates. Not sure? Put your name on the interest list (see below).
